Fort Interviewed for AP Article on Hazardous Cargo

Ray Fort, a chemistry professor at the University of Maine, spoke with the Associated Press about hazardous materials that are common on Maine railroads. Fort said some materials labeled as hazardous are relatively harmless, such as paraffin wax and potassium chloride. He added if materials such as chlorine or ammonia were spilled, it would be an environmental disaster. The Portland Press Herald carried the report.
