County Crop Specialist in Potato Harvest Story

The St. John Valley Times interviewed University of Maine Cooperative Extension educator and crop specialist Steve Johnson in Aroostook County about how the summer’s lack of rain hurt the northern Maine potato crop. Johnson said one community, Saint Agatha, received only 1.1 inches of rain in July and less than two inches in August, which stressed plants and caused smaller potatoes.
