MPBN Interviews Drummond on Bee Study Collaboration

Maine Public Broadcasting Network interviewed University of Maine Cooperative Extension professor of insect ecology and insect pest management Frank Drummond on Monday for a news report on a research project on the decline of native bee populations in the eastern U.S. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has award researchers from UMaine, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Cornell University, the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station and the University of Tennessee $3.3 million to study how bees’ diversity is affected by factors including landscape, farm size, pesticide use and exposure to pathogens and parasites.
