Baker Comments on Religion and Sports in Detroit Newspaper
A report in the Detroit Free Press on the mingling of sports and religion included comments from UMaine History Professor Emeritus William Baker, who has written a book entitled “Playing with God: Religion and Modern Sport.” Baker told the paper that baseball is affected by the general culture, which has been affected by the rise of evangelical religion.
