Feature on Social Work Student in Assisted Living Program
Kara Janes, a UMaine social work graduate student, was featured in the Bangor Daily News for her involvement in a project that has her living in an assisted-living facility for 10 days. Janes elected to spend 10 days at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville order to build empathy for her clients and enrich her clinical understanding of the long-term care environment. Her placement is coordinated and evaluated through the “Learning by Living” project.
