Anthropologist In Newspaper Report On Skull

Dr. Marcella Sorg, a UMaine anthropologist who also serves as the state forensic anthropologist, was interviewed for a Bangor Daily News story about a skull that was found in a gravel pit off Route 1 in Hancock. Sorg, who examined the skull, told the BDN she believes it likely came from an old cemetery, and that it is not unusual to find human bones in a gravel pit, because people often put family plots where it was easy to dig, such as sandy areas that are also gravel-mining sites.
