Wisconsin’s Ashland Current newspaper carried a story about a new pharmaceuticals mail-back program in that state, designed to keep prescription and other drugs out of the environment or wrong hands. Modeled after the University of Maine Center on Aging’s “Safe Medicine Disposal for ME” program, Wisconsin’s “Get the Meds Out” allows residents to send unused, unneeded or expired medicines to a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency processing site in Maine, the only one in the nation created to receive discarded drugs.
