The Spruce features UMaine expert on fruit trees for cold climates

Renae Moran, professor of pomology at the University of Maine, was featured in The Spruce discussing fruit tree varieties that can survive harsh winter conditions and thrive in colder climates. “Cherries are notorious for ‘waking up’ too soon in late winter,” said Moran, who is also a University of Maine Cooperative Extension tree fruit specialist. “Warm weather followed by very cold weather can damage trees and shorten their life span.”
