Ben Herzog, who manages the wood-composites lab at the University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center, was recently featured in Down East on the mass-timber construction that has made its way to Maine and the benefit of being a speedy material to work with. “So one of the benefits of mass timber, from an ecological standpoint, is that our buildings are becoming carbon sinks,” said Herzog.
