RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
The success of the MML depends 
upon the valuable contributions of undergraduate research assistants. The lab follows an apprenticeship model and undergraduate researchers work closely with our research team (e.g. lab director, graduate students, other researchers and collaborators) and can expect to help with project design, subject recruitment, data collection, data management and analysis, literature reviews, (grant) writing, publication and presentation of results. Undergraduate research assistants may take part in the following ways:
- Volunteer
- Volunteers dedicate at least 3-6 hours per week for a minimum of one semester and attend weekly lab meetings
- Volunteer in exchange for course credit (PSY 492)
- Each credit is equal to 3 hours in the lab (e.g. 3 credits of PSY 492 = 9 hours in the lab)
- Complete a capstone thesis project (PSY 494/PSY 499).
- Please note that to be considered for a capstone/thesis project you must have completed two semesters work experience in the lab

GRADUATE STUDENTS
The University of Maine has an outstanding graduate training program in clinical psychology. Recently UMaine’s clinical psychology program was ranked in the top ten as a program that excels at graduate training in professional psychology. Individuals interested in UMaine’s clinical psychology program can find more information on the Department of Psychology website. Graduate students can join the MML through acceptance to the clinical psychology program.
