Josh Stoll<\/a>, Mitchell Center faculty fellow and assistant professor of marine policy at the University of Maine, is featured in a March 25 <\/span>UMaine News article<\/a>\u00a0about Local Catch Network, \u201ca community of fishermen, researchers and consumers committed to providing local, healthful, low-impact and economically sustainable seafood directly from harvesters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

During the coronavirus pandemic, more people in Maine are looking for ways to access fresh, local foods, from farm products to seafood. Local Catch<\/a>, founded by Stoll in 2011, includes a Seafood Finder<\/a> that helps people connect with local sources of lobsters, scallops, crab, and other seafood that they can purchase directly, \u201cfrom boat to fork.\u201d<\/p>\n

WABI-TV featured Stoll and Local Catch on a segment aired March 30<\/a> on seeking out local foods.<\/p>\n

Local Catch also hosted a free, online forum<\/a> on March 31, “for fishermen, community organizers, and other interested parties to share updates, lessons learned, and critical information that will help strengthen our food system and fishermen\u2019s markets during the COVID-19 pandemic.”<\/p>\n
