Master’s student Melissa Flye Joins Mitchell Center Dam Teams
Newly arrived Master’s student Melissa Flye will be working on the Mitchell Center’s Getting Over the Dam and Future of Dams projects. Melissa is a Maine native who received her B.S. in wildlife ecology from UMaine. 
After spending two years working on anadromous fisheries research projects for the state and private consulting firms, she has returned to the UMaine to pursue her M.S under Carly Sponarski, Assistant Professor, Wildlife, Fisheries and Conservation Biology and Mitchell Center Faculty Fellow, in the Human Dimensions of Wildlife Lab. Melissa’s research focuses on the social science and policy interface of Atlantic salmon recovery decision-making in an effort to understand the barriers to collaboration and opportunities for institutional transformation.
