The New Writing Series welcomes fiction writer\u00a0Joanna Ruocco<\/a>\u00a0to the University of Maine campus for a reading on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at\u00a04:30pm in the Allen and Sally Fernald APPE space (104\u00a0Stewart Commons<\/a>). The reading, which is free & open to the public, will be introduced by\u00a0Gregory Howard<\/a>\u00a0and followed by an audience Q&A with the author.<\/p>\n

Joanna Ruocco<\/span>\u00a0holds\u00a0an MFA from Brown and a PhD from the University of Denver. She is the author of\u00a0The Mothering Coven\u00a0<\/em>(Ellipses Press, 2009),\u00a0Man\u2019s Companions<\/em>\u00a0(Tarpaulin Sky Press, 2010),\u00a0A Compendium of Domestic Incidents<\/em>\u00a0(which won the 2009 Noemi Press Fiction Chapbook Contest; judged by Rikki Ducornet) and\u00a0Another Governess \/ The Least Blacksmith: A Diptych<\/em>\u00a0(which won the FC2 Catherine Doctorow Innovative Fiction Prize; judged by Ben Marcus). She\u00a0also works pseudonymously as Alessandra Shahbaz (Ghazal in the Moonlight, Midnight Flame)\u00a0<\/em>and Toni Jones (No Secrets in Spandex).\u00a0<\/em>With Brian Conn,\u00a0Ruocco\u00a0co-edits the fiction journal\u00a0Birkensnake<\/a><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n
