Position Opening: Optimization and Automation of a Shellfish Nursery Upweller

Professors Goupee and Friess are seeking a motivated student  interested in pursuing a M.S. degree for a project entitled ‘Optimization and Automation of a Shellfish Nursery Upweller’. The student will perform both computational and experimental research aimed at improving the flow characteristics and operation of upwellers used for incubating juvenile oysters. Experimental work will take place at the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s Fluids Laboratory, the Darling Marine Center as well as in the field at Pemaquid Oyster Company’s Damariscotta River site.
