Data collection and privacy

The University of Maine website provides electronic forms to departments and units to easily create sign up sheets and other data collection forms. These forms occasionally transmit data via email, which may not be fully secure. Certain data is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if collected in this fashion. This data can include:

Name
Address
Telephone number
Email address
Photograph
Date and place of birth
Major or field of study
Dates of attendance
Grade level
Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
Weight and height of members of athletic teams
Degrees, honors and awards received
The most recent educational agency or institution attended
Student ID number
