This is not a State Position The Maine Department of Marine Resources Lobster At-Sea Sampling and Ventless
Trap Programs are looking for a sampler for the 2017field season. These are ongoing monitoring programs that record biological data for American lobster on commercial lobster boats along the entire coast of Maine.
Full time (40 hrs/week) sea sampler based out of Boothbay Harbor, ME. Assist with Ventless Trap Program and Lobster Sea Sampling Program. Complete 6-9 sampling trips on commercial lobster boatseach month with associated data entry done
in the office. Must be available at minimum May 1through November. Some work will be on weekends when scheduled.
Training for field and data entry will be scheduled at the beginning of May and sampling gear provided.
The applicant will have the ability to work on commercial lobster boats for long hours under challenging
conditions. An easy going attitude,excellent work ethic, and extremeflexibility are required. Thesampler must be detail
-oriented, organized and able to work independently. Experience with the lobster fishing community and/or commercial fishing
is preferable and an interest in marine science or fisheries related issues is a bonus. Experience with PC computers and familiarity with Microsoft Access and Excel are beneficial.
