{"id":150,"date":"2015-09-27T21:21:45","date_gmt":"2015-09-28T01:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/maineliteracy\/?page_id=150"},"modified":"2015-11-17T19:49:44","modified_gmt":"2015-11-17T19:49:44","slug":"reading-recovery-teacher-training","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/maineliteracy\/resources\/reading-recovery-teacher-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading Recovery Teacher Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Reading Recovery<\/b><b>\u00ae <\/b><b>Teacher Training<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The University of Maine Training Center for Reading Recovery provides Teacher Training and Continued Professional Development in Sites Statewide.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Reading Recovery teacher training follows an apprenticeship model which combines theory and practice as teachers actively work with four students during the day while taking a two-semester graduate level course.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Each teacher is involved in designing individual literacy lessons for first-grade students,\u00a0administering daily assessments to monitor student progress, and\u00a0collecting and analyzing data under the guidance of a registered Reading Recovery Teacher Leader.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ongoing coaching sessions with the Teacher Leader provide further assistance to the new teacher in teaching for accelerated learning and processing of text in reading and writing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Upon successful completion of training, teachers meeting US standards and guidelines may be registered as Reading Recovery teachers and must engage in ongoing professional development provided by a teacher leader to maintain registration.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reading Recovery\u00ae Teacher Training The University of Maine Training Center for Reading Recovery provides Teacher Training and Continued Professional Development in Sites Statewide.
