Register HERE for this three-hour asynchronous module that will focus on the foundation and fundamental elements of Explicit Instruction. This includes a brief review of the extensive research evidence to support the effectiveness of this instructional approach, particularly for students at-risk for and with learning differences. Essential elements of development and delivery of Explicit Instruction will be reviewed, in addition to the EI lesson structure. Emphasis will be placed on utilizing Explicit Instruction to enhance academic and behavioral outcomes. Registration is free but required. 

 

About the Instructor: Courtney A. Dexter, Ph.D.

I am a special educator with extensive experience in providing evidence-based services and supports to a diverse group of exceptional learners at all levels. This includes, but is not limited to: Teacher preparation, Multi-tiered systems of support, and Explicit Instruction and inclusion practices for students with disabilities. I earned my Ph.D. in special education at Penn State University in 2015, and worked at Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA as Assistant Professor of Education until 2020. Currently, I am Special Education Department Lead and Inclusion/Resource Teacher at an elementary school in Dallas Independent School District in Dallas, TX. I also teach a graduate course on Explicit Instruction at Southern Methodist University (SMU).
