{"id":6076,"date":"2024-06-05T11:40:36","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T15:40:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/mafes\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=6076"},"modified":"2024-06-05T11:43:26","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T15:43:26","slug":"native-forest-species-climate-change-workshop","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/mafes\/event\/native-forest-species-climate-change-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Native Forest Species &amp; Climate Change workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Oxford County Soil &amp; Water Conservation District will host a workshop exploring climate change effects on Maine&#8217;s forest flora.<\/p>\n<p>Maine\u2019s native tree and shrub species will be dealing with climate change in different ways.<br \/>\nSome will adapt faster than others, others will struggle and could potentially be lost.<br \/>\nOCSWCD Project Manager, Michele Windsor, will lead a walk in the District\u2019s Tenmile River<br \/>\nDemonstration Forest to identify many of the species that are expected to more resilient as<br \/>\nwell as species that will be adversely affected by climate change. She\u2019ll also explore<br \/>\n\u201cassisted migration\u201d of some more southern native species that can easily be introduced in<br \/>\nMaine to fill the voids in wildlife habitat and forest biodiversity as participants tour the<br \/>\nAgroforestry and Climate Resiliency Demonstration Project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>This event is free!
