As climate change, over-exploitation, and other stressors continue to impact ocean ecosystems, conventional “single-issue” strategies have proven inadequate. National and international bodies have consequently called for a shift toward more comprehensive and integrated management that recognizes the full array of benefits provided by marine ecosystems and humans’ diverse and close connections to marine ecosystems. This
