School of Policy & International Affairs 4+1 MA Program

The School of Policy & international Affairs (SPIA) offers a 4+1 MA program for UMaine undergraduate students majoring in Political Science or International Affairs.

SPIA’s MA in Global Policy is an international service degree with concentrations in Environmental Policy, Climate Policy, Trade & Commerce, and Security & Foreign Policy. The MA in Global Policy program provides students with the analytical tools and professional skills necessary to help deal with some of the most pressing global challenges.

Students majoring in Political Science or International Affairs with at least a 3.5 GPA can apply for SPIA’s 4+1 MA in Global Policy program and pursue any one of the four concentrations. Interested students should apply during their junior year by sending statements of interest and three letters of recommendation. It is strongly recommended that students contact SPIA in advance to discuss their interest in the program.
