Adaption, Vulnerability &\u00a0Social-Ecological Resilience\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

My research\u00a0investigates vulnerability and resilience in Maine\u2019s coastal communities. My research\u00a0takes an mixed method, ethnographic approach to understand how communities have been impacted by social and ecological changes, how they responded to those changes in the past, and how they might respond in the future.<\/p>\n

As part of this work, my team has produced a collection of oral history interviews with fishermen. With permission. many of these oral histories have been archived at NOAA\u2019s Voices of the Fisheries project so that they may be accessible to future generations. One of my current projects is using oral history interviews to understand the implications of \u201cgraying of the fleet\u201d on Maine\u2019s lobster fishery.<\/p>\n

A past project used oral histories to understand vulnerability and resilience:\u00a0In Their Own Words \u2013 Fishermen\u2019s Perspectives of Community Resilience<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Johnson lab has also profiled eastern Maine fishing ports.<\/p>\n
