Gmail Changes

Google continues to update its suite of products and Gmail recently received a makeover. You may have already made the switch to the new version when prompted by a pop-up that appeared during the last few weeks, or perhaps you have done so with a personal Gmail account. Although it’s currently possible to opt out of transitioning to the new version, sometime early fall Google will move all users to it.

The change is primarily visual with a couple of new features, including offering canned responses to emails and nudging you on emails that are perceived as needing a response. If you use Gmail‘s mobile version, you have already experienced this.

To help you prepare for the upcoming changes, a UMS IT trainer will be offering a Gmail overview session via Zoom On September 12 @ 9:00am.  In addition to live training, our trainer has assembled some tips that you can view at: https://gojira.its.maine.edu/confluence/display/ITR/New+Gmail+Tips
