Join us at the Hudson Museum for our Artist Showcase with Passamaquoddy Basketmaker, Gabriel Frey on Wednesday, August 1st from 10:00am to 11:00am. Gabriel Frey is a 12th generation Passamaquoddy Basketmaker who will demonstrate and talk about the ancient tradition of brown ash and sweetgrass basketry and the new directions that he is taking the tradition. Admission to this event is free and open to the public.

Annual Wabanaki Social Gathering and Inaugural Birch Bark Canoe Flotilla

As part of their Community Day celebrations, the Penobscot Nation will host their Annual Wabanaki Social Gathering and Inaugural Birch Bark Canoe Flotilla on Indian Island. In addition, on Thursday August 2nd there will be a presentation at Bangor Public Library about the history and tradition of the birch bark canoe. These events are open to the public! Annual Day of the Dead Celebration

Please join us for our annual celebration of the Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, a Mexican holiday that honors departed family, friends, and ancestors. Eunice Loredo will do a presentation on this tradition, its origins, and how it is celebrated in Mexico. Students will also have an opportunity to try their hand at making traditional decorations, papel picado, paper skull masks, tissue paper flowers, and clay skulls.
