Search Waivers<\/a>&nbsp;may be used for partners in search of faculty and staff positions by identifying employment opportunities on campus outside of the competitive search process and matching well-qualified prospective employees with identified University needs. &nbsp;<em>All participants hired under the Administrative Practice Letter on Search Waivers must be fully qualified for the identified position and must be approved by the hiring department<\/em>.&nbsp;<em>They also must not be currently employed in a regular (non-temporary) UMaine position.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Partner Accommodation Support is not a guarantee of employment and it does not apply once the competitive search process for a position has commenced.&nbsp; Search committees have the right to not use the search waiver program if a qualified partner is presented to them. Once the competitive search process to fill a vacancy commences, spouses and partners of faculty and staff may apply and will be assessed using the same criteria as all other applicants for employment for a given position.
