Room sign up instructions: February 27 – March 5
Starting February 21, log in to myHousing (link above) to see the earliest date and time you may log in to select a room for next year. IMPORTANT: If you have a roommate in mind, the person with the earlier timeframe should pull in the person with the later time frame to get the most choices of rooms.
However, the person with the later timeframe must log in as soon after Room Signup begins BEFORE the person with the earlier timeframe to accept the room and board (meal plan) license, select a meal plan, and create a PIN code to give to the person pulling them into a room. This PIN code tells the system that you have completed the license and selected a meal plan enabling your roommate to pull you in.
Starting at 10:00am February 27 – Room Signup Begins!
Log in to myHousing using your MaineStreet ID and password.
Click on “Room Selection.”
There will be two choices here:
- Choice one: Actually selecting a room. This is the choice the person chooses who is selecting a space on their own or pulling in a roommate.
- Choice two: The process for the person being pulled into a room by their roommate. (This is the person with the later timeframe.)
The person being pulled in gives the PIN code they created to their roommate. This tells the system that you have accepted the Room and Board License and selected a meal plan. When the roommate’s timeframe begins, they may log in, accept the room and board license, select a meal plan, select a room, and pull their roommate in using that PIN code.
When selecting a room: First choose the building you want, the floor you want, and then you’ll see a floor plan with rooms and beds in them. A red bed means the bed is taken. Green means the bed is available.
- Two green beds means it’s a double room and both bed spaces are available.
- One green bed and one red bed means it’s a double room, but someone has already selected one of the spaces in the room. This could be someone without a specific roommate and just going for a random roommate.
- One bed in a room means it’s a single.
- When you click on the bed, it locks the room from anyone else selecting it while you finish the process. The process is not complete until the FINISH button is clicked at the end of the process.
Any questions, concerns, or problems with the system, please contact us.
Thank you for living with us again next year.
NOTE: If you secure a space through Room Signup, the DTAV/Patch process, or Honors Housing and cancel your housing, cancellation fees apply. A $250 cancellation fee is assessed until June 1. A $500 cancellation fee applies June 2 through the start of the semester. An email to um.housing@maine.edu is required to officially cancel. If you are unsure about living on campus next year, you may always complete a housing application later, and our department will assign you to an available space.
