{"id":39,"date":"2014-09-16T15:39:52","date_gmt":"2014-09-16T19:39:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/umaine.edu\/hab\/?page_id=39"},"modified":"2018-03-26T14:36:33","modified_gmt":"2018-03-26T18:36:33","slug":"experiment-examples","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/hab\/experiment-examples\/","title":{"rendered":"Experiment Examples"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Send Your Experiment to the Edge of Space with UMaine High Altitude Ballooning!<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do seeds exposed to that environment grow differently?\u00a0Compare seeds flown inside the box and those flown taped outside the box with some not flown at all.<\/li>\n<li>Measure temperature inside two boxes, one empty and one with a chemical hand-warmer (we have temperature loggers and can also provide outside air temperature measurements)<\/li>\n<li>Send up an Arduino<sup>TM<\/sup> or Raspberry Pi<sup>TM<\/sup> system (e.g., take your own photographs, measure the environment).<\/li>\n<li>Send up an experiment that uses an old unused cell phone (you assume all risks if lost). Note that the FCC prohibits you from sending a cell phone signal from aloft.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Place undeveloped camera film in a sealed container. Cosmic rays at high altitude will reportedly cause white streaks in the developed film.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Get two matching inexpensive digital clocks.\u00a0Send one watch up and use the other as a control.
