May 4, 2020

Dear members of the University of Maine graduate student community:

Last week President Ferrini-Mundy, Vice President Robert Dana, and Chief of Staff and Commencement Coordinator Kimberly Whitehead announced May 4 through May 9, 2020 as Class of 2020 Student Recognition Week.

While I and the rest of the Graduate School staff share your disappointment that we will not be able to celebrate your achievements in person this week, I do encourage you to visit the Commencement website. President Ferrini-Mundy, Chancellor Malloy, and others will be sending congratulatory remarks all week, and on May 8, the Commencement site will feature special messages from me, as well as the Graduate School staff. The site also features a virtual yearbook with photos of many graduate students who have earned their graduate degrees, as well as a complete list of graduating students displayed on the Alfond Stadium scoreboard.

I extend my congratulations to you for all your hard work that culminated in this week of celebration. We look forward to awarding your master’s and doctoral hoods and degrees in person when it is safe to be together!

Sincerely,

Kody Varahramyan, Ph.D.
