Colloquium with Vincent Sherry: Modernism and Its Aftermath

November 15, 2018 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Dr. Vincent Sherry, the Howard Nemerov Professor in the Humanities and chair of the English department at Washington University in St. Louis, will hold a colloquium on modernism and its aftermath using chapters from his Cambridge History of Modernism in the UMaine Writing Center, 402 Neville Hall. Faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students are welcome.

Dr. Sherry’s visit to Orono coincides almost exactly with the 100th anniversary of the Armistice formally ending the hostilities of the first global war. Dr. Sherry’s eminence in the field of modernist literature, especially in the context of World War I, makes his visit both timely and significant to the university and surrounding community.

The event is sponsored by the Clement and Linda McGillicuddy Humanities Center and UMaine’s Center for Poetry and Poetics as part of the McGillicuddy Humanities Center’s 2018-19 symposium.
