Structural Engineering Exercise In Prof. Eric Landis’s Lab<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Engineering awareness days are when girls from middle and high schools in small groups spend a day at the University exploring engineering and doing hands on projects in different engineering labs with the faculty and their graduate and undergraduate students.<\/p>\n

The event is geared toward helping students and their parents learn more about engineering and have a better understanding of the job opportunities available in the field.<\/p>\n

This provides an opportunity for high school and middle school students, their teachers, and their parents to hear firsthand from current students, faculty and practicing professionals, attend a series of panel presentations detailing the various engineering disciplines, visit engineering laboratories, and also participate in many hands on projects.<\/p>\n

The schedule of the day is organized to fit the time a group can be on campus.\u00a0 Some groups can stay only for few hours while most of the groups stay for a whole day.\u00a0 Also depending on the travel time it takes for some groups, almost 3 hours, to get to campus, activities are planned accordingly.<\/p>\n

A sample of a typical Engineering day looks like the following<\/p>\n
