Expanding Your Horizons Conference at UMaine on March 14, 2013
The Women’s Resource Center and the University of Maine have begun planning for the 2013 Expanding Your Horizons conference. This year’s conference will be held on Thursday, March 14that the University of Maine. The conference offers middle school girls from across Maine the chance to experience careers in the STEM fields. Experience is gained through interactive-workshops led by female role models employed in STEM-related professions. Such fields can include science, technology, engineering, mathematics, forestry, and more.
College of Engineering will be presenting several workshops in different engineering labs on the day. Expanding Your Horizons is a one-day event designed to increase the interest of girls in mathematics and science careers and education. It is expected that more than 500 middle school girls will be participating in the event on campus.
