{"id":22916,"date":"2023-07-14T11:04:43","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T15:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edhd\/?p=22916"},"modified":"2023-07-14T11:04:43","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T15:04:43","slug":"lee-selected-for-nsf-early-career-stem-education-scholars-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edhd\/2023\/07\/14\/lee-selected-for-nsf-early-career-stem-education-scholars-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Lee selected for NSF early-career STEM education scholars program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jooyoung Lee, postdoctoral research associate with the University of Maine College of Education and Human Development, has been selected for the 2023\u201324 National Science Foundation Quantitative Research Methods for STEM Education Scholars Program.<\/p>\n<p>The annual <a href=\"https:\/\/education.umd.edu\/academics\/departments\/hdqm\/research\/nsf-qrm-scholars-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">program<\/a> offered through the University of Maryland pairs 20 early-career education researchers with mentors to help them develop skills in research design, measurement and analysis. It includes an initial intensive virtual training institute on fundamental quantitative methodology, on-going virtual and in-person workshops and access to quantitative expertise through regular interaction between participants and their mentors. The institute and subsequent workshops focus specifically on the data analysis skills, measurement issues and research design principles most applicable to STEM education researchers. In addition, scholars receive access to a state-of-the-art statistical computation and software server for the duration of the program.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the year, scholars will design and implement a study of their choice with the support from their mentor and share their findings with members of their cohort. Lee\u2019s proposed project is titled \u201cCognitive Profile of Students with Learning Disabilities in Geometry Problem-Solving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lee\u2019s application was supported by the College of
