{"id":20597,"date":"2021-07-27T13:03:59","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T17:03:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edhd\/?p=20597"},"modified":"2021-07-27T13:03:59","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T17:03:59","slug":"umaine-to-host-summer-technology-institute-for-educators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edhd\/2021\/07\/27\/umaine-to-host-summer-technology-institute-for-educators\/","title":{"rendered":"UMaine to host Summer Technology Institute for educators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Approximately 60 preK\u201312 teachers, higher education instructors and other professionals will attend a three-day virtual conference Aug. 3\u20135 sponsored by the University of Maine\u2019s instructional technology program.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edtech207\/2021-summer-technology-institute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2021 Summer Technology Institute<\/a> features speakers, workshops, hands-on activities, networking opportunities and more.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s conference has two plenary sessions featuring leaders in the field of educational technology, Ross Cooper and Lisa Johnson. Cooper is a New York-based school administrator and co-author of several articles and books, including the newly released \u201cProject Based Learning: Real Questions. Real Answers. How to Unpack PBL and Inquiry.\u201d Johnson, known as the \u201cTech Chef,\u201d is author of \u201cCreatively Productive: Essential Skills for Tackling Time Wasters, Clearing the Clutter, and Succeeding in School \u2014 and Life!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Summer Technology Institute is part of a three-credit course offered through the instructional technology graduate program. Participants can also attend for professional development, earning 25 contact hours or 2.5 continuing education units (CEUs). This is the 23rd year UMaine has offered a Summer Technology Institute for educators as part of the collaborative program in instructional technology.<\/p>\n<p>The instructional technology program is a partnership between the University of Maine, the University of Maine at Farmington and the University of Southern Maine, with instructors based at all three campuses. Courses are delivered remotely via UMaineOnline. The program includes a Master of Education degree, an Education Specialist degree, and four graduate certificates: Classroom Technology Integrationist, Computational Thinking for Educators, Instructional Design and Library and Media Specialist.<\/p>\n<p>More information about the programs is available <a href=\"https:\/\/online.umaine.edu\/edtech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener
