Allan is a professor of higher education at UMaine; Kerschner earned his doctorate in higher education in 2021. Their <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/edhd\/2021\/04\/06\/umaine-study-examines-hazing-in-ncaa-diii-college-athletics\/\">survey<\/a> of five Division III institutions found that 40.9% of athletes experienced hazing compared to 24.8% of non-athletes. &#8220;Athletes were statistically significantly more likely to experience harassment hazing than their peers in fraternities and sororities and other group organisations,&#8221; Kerschner told the Guardian.
