She is a licensed professional clinical counselor (LCPC), a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), and a licensed social worker (LSW). She also is certified by the Department of Education as a school counselor and as a secondary level English\/language arts and social studies teacher. Past professional experiences include positions as a clinical coordinator, school counselor, casework supervisor and social worker. Her areas of teaching and research interests include group counseling, multicultural counseling and education, and assessment. Nelligan serves on the board of the Maine School Counselors Association as well as on the Maine Counseling Association ethics board.
