Bio: Anica Miller-Rushing is research associate at the Maine Autism Institute for Education and Research (MAIER), where she leads collaborations, manages programming and professional development, and supports MAIER’s research agenda. Prior to joining MAIER, Anica earned her Ph.D. in STEM Education at the University of Maine. Her research interests center on conceptualizing and describing teacher agency. She focuses on supporting the potential of elementary science teachers to serve as transformative systems-level change agents. Her dissertation used a qualitative discourse analysis case study to describe in-service elementary teachers’ conceptualization and operationalization of teacher agency. Anica specifically enjoys researching and supporting the agency of elementary teachers in their science teaching practices and professional learning agendas. Anica also enjoys sailing around and exploring beautiful Downeast Maine with her family.
