Academic Integrity and Plagiarism

Academic honesty is very important. It is dishonest to cheat on exams, to copy term papers, to submit papers written by another person, to fake experimental results, or to copy or reword parts of books or articles into your own papers without appropriately citing the source. Students committing or aiding in any of these violations may be given failing grades for an assignment or for an entire course, at the discretion of the instructor.

Methods of authentication may be used at the faculty’s discretion and include proctored exams, use of a plagiarism detection tool, and others.

Adding or Dropping a Course

Students wishing to add or drop a course need to speak to us directly. This request must come from you and not a parent or a school counselor. You can either request this through the ExplorEC portal or you can email us directly. um.earlycollege@maine.edu
