Ways to Give - Bequests

DarlingCenter_vert

By providing for the University in a will, a donor can make a substantial contribution without diminishing assets during one’s lifetime. Since bequests are deductible from an estate, there is also the potential for significant estate tax savings.

Here is sample language for remembering the University of Maine in a will or trust:

To The University of Maine Foundation, Orono, Maine (possible choice follows):

  • The sum of $______________;
  • or ____________ percent of my estate;
  • or the property described herein to establish the _______________________ Fund. The principal of the said Fund is to be endowed and only the income shall be used to provide support for the University of Maine.

The Office of University Development and the University of Maine Foundation have professional giving officers ready to work with you and your advisors. We may be reached Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm by calling 1-800-671-7085 (Development Office) or 1-800-982-8503 (Foundation).
