Mental Health Tips

[ID: Black and cream colored background with a pale orange circle with a quote by Rick Warren which states “Remember how far you have come, not just how far you have to go. You may not be where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be. Take pride in how far you have come. Have faith in how far you can go.”]

We continue to live in difficult times.  There is no shortage of disappointment and stress. Plans have had to be unplanned. Things may not work out as we hoped. Through all of this, it may be hard to see how far we have actually come. This leaves many feeling ungrounded and disheartened, perhaps uncertain of how to move forward.

In order to begin again, we may need to feel more grounded and reconnect with sources of inspiration. You can start by asking yourself these questions. Write down your responses and take some time to read through and reflect:

*What is one thing you have learned from a mistake?

*Can you remember a time that you felt like you failed and recovered?

*What daily challenges might you see instead as opportunities for growth?

*Just as you can identify what went wrong, pause and think about what you are proud of past and present. Write it down.

*What is a small win that you can acknowledge for today?

*How can you respond to disappointment from a place of patience or self-compassionate vs. self-deprecation?

We are each a work in progress. You do have small victories waiting to be celebrated. Allowing yourself to celebrate the “small wins” more regularly in your life will not make you lazy, if anything, it will energize and motivate you even more.

In support and recognition that we all struggle and can heal,
