Making an Appointment
In response to the National Health Emergency, Center hours are 9 am – 12 pm and 1 – 4 pm Monday through Friday. Students may call 207-581-1392 during those hours to schedule an appointment with a counselor. These appointments will either be by phone or Zoom video conferencing depending on access to technology and client preference.
Our phones are open: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-Noon and 1- 4:00 p.m.
When classes are in session during the Fall and Spring semesters, new and returning clients can schedule a brief phone interview by calling the Counseling Center at 207-581-1392 after 9:00 am, Monday through Friday. In that interview you and the counselor will talk about what led you to call and discuss options that best meet your need for moving forward which could include such things as counseling at the Center, help connecting to other resources on campus or in the community, or referral to a clinician off campus.
If you are crisis – thinking of harming yourself or someone else, or you have recently experienced a significant traumatic event – please call us (during business hours), UMPD (207-581-4040) or 911.
When classes are not is session (summer and semester breaks) students can make an appointment for an initial meeting by calling between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. If we are not available when you call, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
If you are geographically located outside of the State of Maine and want services, there may be limitations to what we can provide. We must follow the licensing law in the state you are located. Learn More about Counseling Services – Everyone has problems sometimes. Working with a highly-trained counselor in a professional, confidential setting gives you an opportunity to share your concern, explore your options, and work toward a solution. Students participate in individual, group or couples counseling for a number of reasons; no concern is too big or too small.
