The Office of Innovation and Economic Development has made the following changes to its programs and services in response to the rapidly evolving novel coronavirus pandemic.

A note for our business partners: We are compiling a list of resources for Maine businesses affected by coronavirus (loan programs and more) on the OIED website.

I-Corps spring cohort: The start of this program has been postponed to a date yet to be determined. We are still taking applications from interested teams and will communicate with applicants about the new start date when it is confirmed.

Innovate for Maine: We are still taking applications from both students and companies for the program, and have extended to deadline until Friday, March 27.  We are currently still planning for the student bootcamp to take place, but the date of that event and the start date for internship placements may change.  Please email um.ifm@maine.edu with questions or for more information. We also will post program updates online.

Innovation Engineering workshop: The Fundamentals of Innovation workshop scheduled for April 2-3 in Portland has been postponed to a date yet to be determined.

MIRTA: We are communicating regularly with participating teams and have transitioned regular coaching sessions to an online format. The program timeline may be affected.

Research to Real World Commercialization Training Series: All workshops will move to an online webinar format. Workshop dates and topics may be subject to change. Interested faculty, staff, and students should RSVP and will be emailed a link to participate in the webinar. RSVP link and current schedule available on EventBrite.

Student/community idea coaching: For the time being, we will conduct all idea coaching sessions for student and community entrepreneurs virtually. To set up an online coaching appointment, please visit Calendly.

Top Gun Bangor class: We are communicating regularly with participants and have transitioned scheduled sessions to an online format. The Brews and Schmooze networking event scheduled for March 25 has been canceled. The regional and statewide showcase events that were originally scheduled for May will be postponed.

Please email um.oied@maine.edu with any questions about these changes. This information will be updated as circumstances require.
