What is aquaculture? The students at Adams School in Castine can tell you.

CCAR staff, Melissa Malmstedt and Izzy Depa, spent last Friday with the students at Adams School in Castine, Maine. Pre-K through 8th grade students had a blast learning about aquaculture and interacting with some of Maine’s aquacultured species.

This was especially relevant to Mrs. Huntington’s 1st and 2nd graders who are just beginning an experiential learning program with Blue Hill Heritage Trust. Throughout the remainder of the school year these students will take part in various activities to explore and understand the Bagaduce watershed and its importance in maintaining a healthy local ecosystem.

We’re pretty sure all parties involved had a great time and we hope to have inspired a few young minds along the way.
