Began Conservation Science NRT Program Spring 2020

I became interested in the University of Maine because of their strong environmental programs and field-based research opportunities. The opportunity to be a participant in the the NRT Conservation Science program appealed to me as my prior professional work in the environmental communication arena taught me the significance of collaborative, cross-discipline teamwork to solve environmental challenges. I hope to achieve an in-depth understanding of how to shape and lead environmental communication solutions that emerge through the lens of undertaking transdisciplinary research.

I received a BA in Political Economy with a Minor in Asian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MS in Environmental Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University. I am interested in community engagement and resulting responses to the proposed locating of recirculating aquaculture system facilities in cities across Maine and elsewhere in the US. I am also an avid sailor and can’t wait to get on the water in Maine!
