{"id":979,"date":"2016-08-08T15:15:38","date_gmt":"2016-08-08T19:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/cohen\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=979"},"modified":"2016-08-08T15:16:26","modified_gmt":"2016-08-08T19:16:26","slug":"presidential-election-2016-campaign-results","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/cohen\/event\/presidential-election-2016-campaign-results\/","title":{"rendered":"The Presidential Election of 2016: Campaign and Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Presidential Election of 2016: Campaign and Results<br \/>\nJanuary 8-10, 2017<br \/>\nLauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy, IDC, Herzliya, Israel<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Call for Papers<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We invite scholars to submit paper proposals for the second IDC conference on the presidential election of 2016 sponsored by the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, Israel, and the Cohen Institute for Leadership &amp; Public Service at the University of Maine.\u00a0 At the conference, we wish to examine the 2016 presidential campaigns, the election results, and their consequences to American domestic and foreign policy, and to evaluate the Obama presidency at its close.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will be held at the IDC in Herzliya on January 8-10, 2017.\u00a0 The format of the conference will be panel and roundtable sessions and special events featuring keynote speakers on the election and on the Obama presidency.\u00a0 On an additional day, we will offer a guided tour in Israel.<\/p>\n<p>We welcome papers on any aspect of the 2016 presidential election:\u00a0 the issues raised during the campaign, their effect on the election results, and how these results will affect US domestic and foreign policies. \u00a0In addition, we invite papers assessing the political environment during the Obama administration, especially the relationship between the Obama administration and Congress, the polarization of the political parties, trends in public opinion toward government and the political process, and an evaluation of US foreign policy in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>To submit, please send a proposal by September 15, 2016 to the conference committee, at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:US2012@idc.ac.il\">US2016@idc.ac.il<\/a>.\u00a0 The proposal should include a title, a 150-word abstract, your name, institutional affiliation, and contact information.
