Presentations&nbsp;explored the use of interdisciplinary approaches and harnessing the power of emerging techniques to create new opportunities for scientific discovery within the field of muscle biology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UMaine<\/strong> was a sponsor for the Gordon Conference on Myogenesis, Clarissa Henry was co-chair with Jeff Dillworth (University of Wisconsin Madison). <strong>Kodey Silknitter,<\/strong> a GSBSE T32 recipient, also attended the conference with support from <a href=\"https:\/\/maineinbre.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/maineinbre.org\/\">Maine INBRE<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/biomaine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/biomaine.org\/\">BioME<\/a>, and UMaine. In addition to taking a very interesting cheese making tour, Clarissa and Kodey thoroughly enjoyed learning the latest new science regarding skeletal muscle physiology.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grc.org\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/www.grc.org\/about\/\">Gordon Research Conferences <\/a>provide an international forum for the presentation and discussion of frontier research in the biological, chemical, physical and engineering sciences and their interfaces.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/af4c7046dff8869bd5db02061\/images\/69ed2385-c077-ade8-7999-f33ad5274bb5.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"193\" align=\"left\" data-file-id=\"7030965\" data-cke-saved-src=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/af4c7046dff8869bd5db02061\/images\/69ed2385-c077-ade8-7999-f33ad5274bb5.jpg\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clarissa Henry, Professor, School of Biology and Ecology, Director, Center of Biomedical Research Excellence:&nbsp;
