NEW COMMUTER & NON-TRADITIONAL STUDENTS\u2019 CHECKLIST <\/b><\/p>\n

\u25a1 Attend\u00a0 Summer 2019 Orientation in June\u00a0<\/a> <\/strong>Ground Floor Memorial Union,\u00a0 Be sure to attend\u00a0 the afternoon session for Commuters \/ Non traditional Students and your college academic session. Non traditional students with family commitments and time restraints do not need to stay over night or return for Day Two of your college’s session.<\/p>\n

July & August \u00a0(If you missed Summer Orientation) <\/strong>Take a summer Orientation tour. Register for a tour<\/a> at https:\/\/go.umaine.edu\/visit\/campus-tour\/. Tell your guide you\u2019re a non-traditional student\u00a0 and\/or commuter and ask to include a visit to the Commuter Lounge in the Memorial Union.<\/p>\n

\u25a1 Pay the confirmation deposit\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25a1 Register for classes with your college <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u25a1 MaineCard:<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0You can have your MaineCard photo taken at the Info Fair in the CCA each afternoon\u00a0 except Friday of June Orientation week. You can pick up your MaineCard at the MaineCard office in 1st<\/sup> floor Memorial Union, after 24 hours.\u00a0 Or stop by the MaineCard Office any week day over the summer to have your photo taken.<\/p>\n

To get your MaineCard BE SURE TO BRING:
\n<\/strong>1. Your MaineStreet<\/a> ID number*
\n2. Another photo ID (such as a current state driver\u2019s license or high school ID)*Information regarding your MaineStreet ID was included in your acceptance letter. If you do not have this information, contact the IT Help Center at 207.581.2506 or visit: IT Help Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Maine Card is used for:<\/p>\n

Library card, Student Rec. Center pass,
\nTo print or make copies at the library and computer clusters (every student gets $16 of printing)
\nFree Community Connection<\/a> & Orono Express<\/a> bus pass,
\nFree access to ticketed athletic events
\nDeposit Black Bear Bucks to use at the Bears Den, Book store and more<\/p>\n

\u25a1 Text Books<\/strong>
\nUse Text Book reservation services or stop by the Bookstore the week before classes to avoid the Bookstore rush. Reserved text books will be available to new commuters on New Student \u2013 Commuter Welcome day or you can purchase them that day as well.

\u25a1 UMaine Parking Permit<\/strong>
\nCommuter Parking passes are $50.00 \/year and can be purchased on-line<\/a>\u00a0 Be aware that commuters have designated parking areas and will be ticketed for parking in other than Commuter parking spaces. Call 207 581 INFO (updated several times \/day) for parking space information.<\/p>\n

\u25a1 Financial Responsibility Statement <\/a>(FRS) <\/strong>all students must complete the FRS before enrolling in classes at any campus of the University of Maine system. The FRS may be accepted by going to your MaineStreet<\/a> Student Center and clicking on the Financial Responsibility Statement link in the \u201cTo Do List.\u201d

\u25a1 Immunizations:<\/strong>\u00a0 Its best to send immunization records in before you attend Summer Orientation.<\/p>\n

Submitting your documentation is mandatory!<\/strong>\u00a0The University MUST receive your immunization records by August 31 of this year, or you will not be able to complete your registration for classes. Compliance is mandatory.

Students accepted to UMaine should plan to regularly check their university email and MaineStreet portal. This is how you will receive important information from Admissions, Financial Aid and other campus offices.
