Non traditional students with family commitments and time restraints do not need to stay over night or return for Day Two of your college&#8217;s session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>July &amp; August \u00a0(If you missed Summer Orientation) <\/strong>Take a summer Orientation tour. <a href=\"https:\/\/go.umaine.edu\/visit\/campus-tour\/\">Register for a tour<\/a> at https:\/\/go.umaine.edu\/visit\/campus-tour\/. Tell your guide you\u2019re a non-traditional student\u00a0 and\/or commuter and ask to include a visit to the Commuter Lounge in the Memorial Union.<\/p>\n<p>\u25a1 Pay the <strong>confirmation deposit\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25a1 <strong>Register for classes with your college <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u25a1 <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/mainecard\/\"><strong>MaineCard:<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0You can have your MaineCard photo taken at the Info Fair in the CCA each afternoon\u00a0 except Friday of June Orientation week. You can pick up your MaineCard at the MaineCard office in 1<sup>st<\/sup> floor Memorial Union, after 24 hours.\u00a0 Or stop by the MaineCard Office any week day over the summer to have your photo taken.<\/p>\n<p>To get your MaineCard <strong>BE SURE TO BRING:<br \/>\n<\/strong>1. Your <a href=\"https:\/\/peportal.maine.edu\/psp\/PAPRD\/EMPLOYEE\/EMPL\/h\/?tab=PAPP_GUEST\">MaineStreet<\/a> ID number*<br \/>\n2. Another photo ID (such as a current state driver\u2019s license or high school ID)*Information regarding your MaineStreet ID was included in your acceptance letter. Center pass,<br \/>\nTo print or make copies at the library and computer clusters (every student gets $16 of printing)<br \/>\nFree <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bangormaine.gov\/communityconnector\">Community Connection<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bangormaine.gov\/filestorage\/318\/332\/683\/BLACK_BEAR_UPDATED_8-29-19.pdf\">Orono Express<\/a> bus pass,<br \/>\nFree access to ticketed athletic events<br \/>\nDeposit Black Bear Bucks to use at the Bears Den, Book store and more<\/p>\n<p>\u25a1 <strong>Text Books<\/strong><br \/>\nUse Text Book reservation services or stop by the Bookstore the week before classes to avoid the Bookstore rush. Reserved text books will be available to new commuters on New Student \u2013 Commuter Welcome day or you can purchase them that day as well.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bookstore.umaine.edu\/\">http:\/\/www.bookstore.umaine.edu\/<\/a> to find out what books you\u2019ll need for your classes.<\/p>\n<p>\u25a1 <strong>UMaine Parking Permit<\/strong><br \/>\nCommuter Parking passes are $50.00 \/year and can be <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/parking\/obtain-a-permit\/\">purchased on-line<\/a>\u00a0 Be aware that commuters have designated parking areas and will be ticketed for parking in other than Commuter parking spaces. Call 207 581 INFO (updated several times \/day) for parking space information.<\/p>\n<p>\u25a1 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/stuaid\/aid-basics\/financial-responsibility-statement\/\">Financial Responsibility Statement <\/a>(FRS) <\/strong>all students must complete the FRS before enrolling in classes at any campus of the University of Maine system. This is how you will receive important information from Admissions, Financial Aid and other campus offices. Ask about town parking regulations Ask about what about other services available to you as a town residents<\/li>\n<li>Visit the town <strong>library <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Confirm your <strong>mailing address<\/strong> with your landlord and\/ or get a post office box. Check with local Post Office about mail delivery and\u00a0 what\u00a0 to do for mail delivery if you are away over breaks.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm your new address on Maine Street<\/li>\n<li>Register to <strong>vote <\/strong>in your new town<\/li>\n<li>Subscribe to a <strong>local newspaper or town newsletter<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WHEN CLASSES START<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Visit the Commuter Lounge, Wade Center, ground floor Memorial Union<br \/>\nPick up your Commuter Club T Shirt and your free Travel Mug. <\/strong>Meet other commuters. Have a free cup of coffee. Rent a locker. Read the newspaper. Have a bagel on First Friday Bagels. Enjoy a CANS Commuter pancake breakfast and more!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get involved.<\/strong>\u00a0Choose from more than 200 diverse <a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/umsg\/solist\/\">clubs and organizations<\/a>. Consider joining Commuter and Non-traditional Students &#8211; CANS (Student Gov\u2019t Board) and Nontraditional Student Associations &#8211; NSA (student club).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cheer for the Black Bears.<\/strong>\u00a0Regular season home games are free with your MaineCard.
