JOIN CLAWS<\/h2>\n

COMMUTER LOUNGE ASSOCIATE TO WELCOME STUDENTS<\/h3>\n

BLACK BEAR CLAWS FOR FALL 2022
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

Black Bear CLAWS (C<\/b>ommuter L<\/b>ounge A<\/b>ssociates to W<\/b>elcome S<\/b>tudents) will assist\u00a0 Commuter and Non-traditional Student Programs staff during the\u00a0 New Student Commuter Welcome Day, which will be held in late August. This Welcome Day is designed for new students who will be living off campus, including traditional first year (recent high school grad) students, transfer students, non-traditional students, and new veteran students. New Student-Commuter Welcome Day will give new students who are living off campus their own fall welcome day to take care of last minutes tasks and learn from other experienced commuters about being a student at UMaine.<\/p>\n

Volunteer to join BLACK BEAR CLAWS!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Commuter and Non-traditional Student Programs (CNTSP) is looking for returning commuters to be CLAWS for the New Student Commuter Welcome Day in late August 2022. CLAWS will be assigned a small group of either new First Year or Transfer students, 18-23 year old commuters, new non-traditional commuters, or new veteran student commuters, and be their guide for the day. Responsibilities will include generally answering questions, as well as leading discussion groups and campus tours. CLAWS are encouraged to stay in touch with the new commuters they welcome and be available occasionally to answer questions and suggest other UMaine resources.<\/p>\n

Requirements:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Have lived in off-campus housing for at least two semesters and planning to do so for fall 2022.<\/li>\n
  • Have successfully completed at least two semesters at UMaine.<\/li>\n
  • Be approachable and willing to share your experiences as an UMaine commuter.<\/li>\n
  • Appropriately represent the University of Maine and Commuter and Non-traditional Student Programs.<\/li>\n
  • May be asked to attend one short CLAW information session in mid-to-late August (to be scheduled at a later date).<\/li>\n
  • Available on the to-be-determined date in late August, 2022, to assist in the New Student Commuter Welcome Day for new commuter students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Every volunteer CLAW will receive a free Commuter Club t-shirt and a free lunch on the day of the event. Best of all, you\u2019ll get to feel good about helping a new commuter student feel welcome at UMaine!<\/p>\n
