Fall 22 Book Club for Teaching Assistants – Teaching Gradually: Practical Pedagogy and Classroom Strategies for Graduate Students

Virtual format (via Zoom meetings)

The book, Teaching Gradually: Practical Pedagogy and Classroom Strategies for Graduate Students, is a guide for anyone who wants to succeed in teaching and learning in higher education. Written for graduate student instructors based on substantive research and teaching experiences of graduate students, this resource speaks from the very front line of teaching experience in classrooms and labs. “Each author featured in this book was a graduate student at the time they wrote their contribution. Consequently, the following chapters give scope to a newer, diverse generation of educators who are closer in experience and professional age to the book’s intended audience.” The tools, methods, and ideas discussed in the book club will be useful in teaching today’s students.

The “Teaching Gradually” book club aims to provide a better understanding of the variety of strategies and the application for your successful classroom practices that are often not explicitly covered in graduate training, and provide you opportunities to discuss these applications and experiences with fellow TAs.
