SUMMARY:Invited Speaker Dr. Tracie Addy Presents: "A Time for Reflection: Next Steps Towards Inclusive Instruction"
DESCRIPTION:During this interactive session we will consider participants’ teaching and learning experiences during the past academic year and their future steps towards inclusive instruction. We will discuss: \n\nWho are the learners at the University of Maine?\nWhich instructional mindsets can help foster more equitable and welcoming classrooms?\nWhich teaching practices can have a positive impact in transforming learning environments at the university?\nWhat can change look like at the department level?\nWhat commitments can be made to advance inclusivity goals in the coming year?\n\nFollowing this 60 minute session there will be a 30-minute Q&A to provide an opportunity for informal conversations to occur with the speaker. \nThis virtual presentation is open to any interested members of the University of Maine System. \nRegister for this event (opens in a new window)\nBiography\nDr. Addy is the Associate Dean of Teaching & Learning at Lafayette College in Easton\, Pennsylvania where she is responsible for working with instructors across all divisions and ranks to develop and administer programming related to the teacher-scholar model from classroom teaching to the scholarship of teaching. As the Director of the Center for the Integration of Teaching\, Learning\, and Scholarship\, she develops and delivers programming on teaching and serves ex officio on the Teaching & Learning Committee. In addition to these roles\, she performs scholarship on teaching and learning and educational development\, primarily focusing on learner-centered practices including active learning and inclusive teaching. She is co-author of the book What Inclusive Instructors Do: Principles and Practices for Excellence in College Teaching and a highly sought keynote speaker and workshop facilitator. \n\nIf you need reasonable accommodation\, please e-mail citlworkshop@maine.edu as soon as you register for an event.
