SUMMARY:Strategies for Student Engagement Community of Practice
DESCRIPTION:In-person participation strongly encouraged; hybrid can be accommodated. \nAlternate Tuesdays from 9:30 am -10:30 am starting on Jan 30th \n\nChanging technologies (e.g.\, AI)\, students (e.g.\, learning post-COVID) and demands for time (e.g.\, faculty workloads) make it more critical than ever to provide meaningful and substantive opportunities for engagement with students in your classes.   In this practice-based learning community participants will research\, design and implement new engagement strategies using each other as a test group for feedback and optimization. Using Barkley’s Student Engagement Techniques: A Handbook for College Faculty as a guide (provided)\, participants will walk away with a set of new ideas for their classrooms and at least one new strategy that has been reviewed and beta tested before it is (re-)used in the classroom.  We will also consider metrics to measure the efficacy of new teaching interventions on student engagement.
